Activate Akismet Plugin
Akismet comes as a default plugin with the basic WordPress installation. As the description says, it checks comments made on your blog to determine if they are spam or not. So it is going to keep your blog clear of rubbish.
Activate Akismet Plugin
When you activate Akismet you will find that it asks you for an API key.

Create an account at WordPress.com. Then login and go to My Account>Edit Profile
Your WordPress API Key
Your API key is in your Profile. Copy it and Paste it in where required in Akismet.
Akismet will then work automatically in the background and hold suspect comment spam pending your decision.
